D. W. SOMMERLOT DEAD

---Aged Resident of Liscomb Township and Well-Known Farmer of Bethel Grove Neighborhood Dies of Heart and Bright’s Disease---

---Funeral Tuesday Forenoon---

David W. Sommerlot, 81, one of the oldest men of Liscomb township, died at his home three miles north of Albion, at 1:20 Sunday afternoon of heart and Bright’s disease. He had been bedfast for a month. Altho Mr. Sommerlot settled in the county in 1876, he remained only a year and had resided in the Bethel Grove neighborhood for only the last twenty years. The Sommerlot home is one of the fine farm properties of the neighborhood in which good homes and farms are common. Mr. Sommerlot was born in Holmes county, Ohio, Nov. 7, 1839, but was reared in Owen county, Indiana, where the family moved when he was young. He served in Company I, Fifty-seventh Indiana infantry. He was united in marriage with Miss Martha Fiscus, in Owen county, Jan. 28, 1864. After remaining here for a year Mr. and Mrs. Sommerlot moved to Audubon county but returned in 1900. Mrs. Sommerlot died March 6, 1919. One son, William A., who lives with his father, survives, as do two brothers and three sisters. The latter are William Sommerlot, Clay City, Ind.; John J. Sommerlot and Mrs. Frank Hull, Coal City, Ind.; Mrs. Benjamin Berger, Jassonville, Ind., and Mrs. Noah Rhodes, Eugene, Ind. Mr. Sommerlot was a member of the Bethel Grove church where the funeral will be held at 10 o’clock Tuesday forenoon. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
