MRS. D. W. SOMMERLOT DEAD

---Early Resident of Bethel Grove Neighborhood Dies---

Mrs. Martha Sommerlot, wife of D. W. Sommerlot, died at her home, three miles north of Albion at 7:15 Thursday night of a complication of diseases. Mrs. Sommerlot was taken sick two weeks ago. Altho an early resident of the county, the family had lived in the Bethel Grove neighborhood only in more recent years. Mrs. Sommerlot, whose maiden name was Martha Fiscus, was born in Owen county, Indiana, Sept. 15, 1841. She was married to D. W. Sommerlot Jan. 28, 1864, in Owen county and came to this county in 1876. A year later they moved to Audubon county, where they made their home until 1900 when they returned to the county and settled in the Bethel neighborhood. Mrs. Sommerlot was the mother of three children. Two daughters died in infancy. The husband and one son, the latter W. A. Sommerlot, of Bethel, survive her as do four brothers and one sister. The latter are Albert Fiscus, city; Elias Fiscus, Albion; A. Fiscus, Alma, Neb.; G. W. Fiscus, Carroll and Mrs. Sarah Hulett, Des Moines. Mrs. Sommerlot was a member of the Bethel church where the funeral will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday. Burial will be in the Bethel cemetery.
