EPHRAIM GRIGGS DEAD

---Well-Known Old Resident of Albion Passes Away Sunday---

Pneumonia, from which he had been suffering for three weeks, caused the death about 9:30 Sunday forenoon of Ephraim Griggs, an old resident of Albion and the Bethel Grove neighborhood. Mr. Griggs had been a resident of this vicinity since 1871. Ephraim Griggs was born in Indiana Jan. 3, 1851, and came to Iowa when he was 20 years of age, settling in the Bethel Grove neighborhood. On June 8, 1879, he was united in marriage with Miss Sarah A. Arney. Three children were born to them, J. Leonard Griggs, Parker, S. D.; Mrs. Effie E. Hilsabeck, Liscomb; and Burt B. Griggs, of Albion. Mrs. Griggs died in February, 1886. Two years later, in February 1888, Mr. Griggs was married a second time to Miss Jennie I. Hauser. Two children were born to this union, Floyd and Marie Griggs, both of whom are at home. A half brother, A. G. Kinsey, lives at Princeton, Minn.; a half sister, Mrs. Anna Sickman, is at Albion, as is also a stepbrother, W. G. Kinsey. Mr. Griggs was a member of the Methodist church, having joined soon after he came to Albion. Before that he was a member of the Bethel Grove church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 from the Methodist church at Albion, in charge of Rev. C. E. Luce. Burial will be in the Bethel Grove cemetery. The church will open to friends at 10 o’clock.
