Mrs. Lavina Kinsey, aged 74 years, died Tuesday at the home of her son, Mr. George Sickman, two miles northeast of Liscomb, after an extended illness with a complication of troubles brought on by old age. Mrs. Kinsey was born in Carlton county, Ohio, and lived there until she was a young woman, when her parents removed to Indiana. In October, 1849, in the Hoosier state, she was married to Barnhart Sickman and lived near Monterey until the spring of 1867, when the family moved to Kansas and settled upon an Indian reserve. In the following October Mr. Sickman died, leaving his wife with eight children to look after. Mrs. Sickman determined to move back to her Indiana home, where she left many friends, and in a covered wagon, with only her older sons to assist her, traversed the distance and endured the hardships of those early days. In June, 1867, Mrs. Sickman was again married to Abraham Kinsey, and with him removed later to Stark county, Indiana, and later to Fulton. Mrs. Kinsey leaves but four children, two daughters and two sons. The latter are George and Sherman Sickman, the latter living near Albion. A brother and a sister also survive her. The funeral was conducted this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the old Bethel church, Rev. Joel Meyers, of LeGrand, officiating. Mrs. Kinsey was a life-long member of the Lutheran church.
