LISCOMB --- (Special) --- Ben Nugent, 77, retired Liscomb area farmer, died unexpectedly of a heart attack Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. while enroute to a hospital. He had been in his usual health, but experienced difficulty breathing Monday night. He was born July 26, 1889, in Liberty, Montgomery County, Kan., a son of Sherman and Elvira Arney Nugent. He came to Iowa with his parents when about 10 and attended school in the Liscomb area. On Oct. 19, 1910, he was married to Althea Hauser and they were parents of a son, Walter, of Eldora. He farmed all of his life north of Liscomb until he retired to town about 10 years ago. He is survived by his widow, his son and by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Elva (Laura) Fiscus, and a brother Charles. He was a member of the Liscomb Church of Christ. Services will be at the Biersborn Funeral Home, Union, at 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Liscomb Cemetery.
