S. H. ROLSTON DEAD
----------
Old Resident of Liscomb Succumbs to Heart Disease

S. H. Rolston, well-known old resident of Liscomb township and the town of Liscomb, died at his home at 1 o'clock this afternoon, of heart trouble and complications. He had been in failing health for more than a year. Mr. Rolston had been a resident of Marshall county since 1867 and for many years had been prominent in church work in the Liscomb neighborhood, where he was affiliated with the Christian church. Mr. Rolston was born in Knox county, Ohio, Aug. 15, 1847, and was the last surviving member of a family of ten children. His brothers, Jacob, Jesse, John and Isaac, and sisters, Mrs. John Roney and Mrs. Thomas McLarnan, were well known in the county for years and especially in Liscomb township. He came to Iowa and to Marshall county Sept. 1, 1867. He was married Jan. 17, 1868, to Miss Huldah Hauser, the ceremony being performed in a log cabin on the site of the Liscomb consolidated school, Justice John Tripp officiating. During their long married life Mr. and Mrs. Rolston moved but three times. Their first home was on a farm northeast of Albion where they lived five years; their next on the Rolston farm, 5 1/2 miles east of Liscomb where they lived thirty-five years and their last in Liscomb, where they resided eighteen years. They celebrated their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary Jan. 17 at the Christian church at Liscomb, where scores of relatives and friends gathered to observe the even. Mr. and Mrs. Rolston were the parents of five children, four of whom survive, together with twenty-one grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The three sons, Clyde and Earl, of Ainsworth, Neb., and Burdette, of Conrad, and the surviving daughter, Mrs. Clarence Steelsmith of Dubuque were at the Rolston home when the end came. Another daughter, Mrs. Laura Lierle, wife of the late Dr. F. H. Lierle, of this city, died in 1902 in this city. Arrangements for the funeral had not been made today.
