PIONEER WOMAN DEAD
----------
Mrs. Catherine Weatherly, Early Settler, Dies at Liscomb

Mrs. Catherine Weatherly, one of the group of Indiana pioneers who settled the Albion-Liscomb neighborhood more than sixty years ago, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sade Bueghly, in Liscomb at noon. Death was caused by pneumonia and complications of old age, after a sickness of fifteen weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Weatherly settled near Liscomb in 1852, where Mr. Weatherly died in January, 1905. Since then Mrs. Weatherly has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Bueghly. Mrs. Weatherly's maiden name was Catharine Hauser. She was born in Owen county, Indiana, Oct. 6, 1829. She became the wife of Timothy R. Weatherly Aug. 22, 1850. In the spring of 1852 the young couple started overland for Iowa, bringing all they possessed in a wagon drawn by a span of oxen. They reached Marietta May 14, but were forced to wait there for a little time until the ferry was finished to take them across the Iowa river. They homesteaded a farm one mile southwest of Liscomb, and on it built the third pioneer home that was erected in the neighborhood. Mrs. Weatherly was the last of her family. Four of her brothers, John, Jacob, George and Lawrence Hauser, were others of the family who were among the pioneers of the Albion-Liscomb neighborhood. Mrs. Weatherly was the mother of twelve children, and in addition she reared a foster son. Four of the children died in infancy and a fifth, Mrs. Daniel Bueghly, died sixteen years ago. The seven children who survive their mother are: Mrs. Malissa Gately, David Weatherly, Mrs. Sade Bueghly and Mrs. Elmer Boyd, Liscomb; John Weatherly, Doon, and George and Foster Weatherly, Rock Rapids. The foster son is William B. Lewis, of Grundy county. Sixty-one grandchildren survive Mrs. Weatherly. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Christian church, and Rev. Mr. Musgrave and Rev. George Biersborn will conduct the service. Burial will be in Liscomb cemetery.
