Joseph D. Fuller, 70 of Melbourne and formerly of Marshalltown, died peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Mary Greely Medical Center in Ames.
After a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer since March of 2005 he is now in heaven with his Lord and savior.
Born Joseph DeNeen Fuller on October 28, 1938 in Bloomfield, Iowa he was the son of Clarence and Mattie (York)Fuller.
Joe graduated from Lake Park High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from May 1961 to 1964.
On August 17th, 1961, he was united in marriage to Linda Sabin in Ft. Riley, Kansas. The couple made Marshalltown their home where they both worked at Fisher Controls until retiring in 1999 and 2002 respectively.
Joe enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, especially at Christmas. He also enjoyed Marshalltown Street Rods, Evangelical Free Church, 50's music, fishing, boating and golfing. He was also a member of the UAW Local 893.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Linda and two sons; Gene (Pam) Fuller of Marshalltown and Mike (Shelly) Fuller of Melbourne; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Rick) Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Brady Johnson, Joshua Fuller and Haley Fuller and three great grandchildren, Dominic Johnson, Isabella Johnson and Attison Fuller. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters; Chuck (Shirley) Fuller of Spirit Lake, Gari (Betty) Fuller of Ferguson, Charlene (Homer) Pate of Houston, TX, Dee (Hod) Johnson of Beemer, NE, Sue (John) Dunlap of West DesMoines; two sister-in-laws, Leone Jorstad of Hendricks, MN and Gini Mayo of Davenport; Mother-in law, Lorene Sabin of Baxter and a host of many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
In death he rejoined his parents; brothers; Dean, Bob and sister, Karen.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the Mary Greeley Hospital staff, Marshalltown Dialysis Center Staff and Dr. Merchant and Dr. Alexander.
