Liscomb Woman to Be Buried Tuesday

Liscomb, April 26 --- (Special) --- Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Buchanan, a lifelong resident of the Liscomb community, will be held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at the Liscomb Church of Christ in charge of Rev. Loren Works. Burial will be on the family lot in the Liscomb cemetery. Mrs. Buchanan was stricken with cerebral hemorrhage last Monday afternoon and died shortly before 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon without regaining consciousness. She was born Mary Edith Speicher, Aug. 4, 1874, in a little log cabin two miles east of Liscomb on what was known as the old Boardman eighty, now owned by the Dunham family. Her parents were John A. and Julia E. Speicher, pioneer settlers of the Liscomb community, and she spent her entire life in and near Liscomb. She was married to F. A. Buchanan, a widely known Liscomb township famer, Dec. 25, 1891. Surviving are Mr. Buchanan and six children, Mrs. Lynn Roosa of Sac City, Mrs. G. B. Clark and Mrs. Myron Baker of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. George B. Tucker of Marshalltown, Ray L. Buchanan of Conrad and Miss Helen Buchanan, who lives at home. One child died in infancy. There are seven grandchildren. A brother, Perry Speicher, lives in San Diego, Calif., and two half sisters, Mrs. May Stephens and Mrs. Lou Spendlove, live at Pittsburg, Kan. Mrs. Buchanan was a member of the Liscomb Church of Christ and the Women's Bible Class of the Sunday school. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary of the Harry F. Powers Post of Liscomb and was a charter member of the Liscomb Mother's Club.
