Lester Smith
Services have been set for Lester Smith, 77, formerly of Conrad, who died Thursday morning at the Villa del Sol nursing home where he had been a patient for the past 18 months. Grave side services will be held at Riverside Cemetery at 2 P.M. Saturday with the Rev. Greg Boyle, Pastor of Center Street Baptist Church officiating.
Born December 4, 1902, in Poweshiek County, Iowa. In 1936, he was married to Charlotte Dee and they made their home in Forest City area for a number of years before going to California. In 1965, he returned to the Conrad and Marshalltown area where he had since resided. Preceding him in death were his parents, a twin brother in infancy, a granddaughter and a half sister. Surviving are a daughter, Marie Smith of Marshalltown, a son, Alva Smith of Colo, and four grandchildren.
Lester was a quite and soft spoken man with a loving heart.
He made several items from wood, one of which was a baby bed that he gave to Alva and Jane for his grandchildren.
