Rodney Edward Speicher, age 54 of Garwin, passed away Friday, March 6, 2009 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. Memorial Services will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, March 11, at Pursel Davis Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations to honor Rodney may be directed to Disabled Veterans of America, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 or the Iowa Donor Network, 8191 Birchwood Court, Suite A, Johnston, IA 50131. Online condolences may be sent to the family at vogelfuneralhomes.com.
Rodney Edward was born December 17, 1954, the son of Rodney William and Pearl Gunderson Speicher. Rodney was raised and educated in the Gladbrook area. On January 19, 1974, he was united in marriage to Debra Tysdale. From this union there were four children. On February 14, 1998, Rodney was united in marriage to Donna Crapser at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Rodney was employed with area construction businesses and also farmed along with his father.
Rodney enjoyed building his own homes. He enjoyed the outdoors and and loved spending his time with his family camping, a game of croquet, and many other activities with his children and grandchildren.
Rodney will be deeply missed by his wife Donna, children, Valesta Scheffert of Melbourne, Sean Fuches of Des Moines, Elissia “Beth” Speicher of Ankeny, Derek Speicher of Melbourne, Ashley (Adam) Curry of Carlisle, Dylon Speicher of Garwin; grandchildren, Bryton Griggs, Brianna Scheffert, Anthony Curry; father, Rodney William Speicher of Gladbrook, sister, Marcella Small of Nevada, brothers, Gary (Sue) Speicher of Cedar Rapids, Duane (Karen) Speicher of Cedar Rapids, and Timmy Speicher of Toledo.
Rodney is preceded in death by his mother Pearl Speicher and his son Jeremy Speicher.
