Robert (Bob) Anson, 86, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown. He will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Robert and his family. Born February 4th, 1922, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Homer and Wilma (Brown) Anson. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1941, going on to one year of college, then joining the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1946. On November 7th, 1944, he was united in marriage to Hope Simpson. After his service to our country, he was employed by Lennox for 42 years as a tool and die maker. He was a member of the Trap Shooting Association, a Bowling League, Moose Lodge, Recreation Association, and the First Baptist Church of Marshalltown. He helped establish pheasants in this area and introduced slow pitch softball. Bob loved to hunt and fish and the outdoors in general. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking and could fix anything, but most of all he will be remembered for his love of family as he was a great father and role model. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 64 years, Hope; his children Dana (Dorothy) Anson of Center Point, IA, Kim (Pat) Trowbridge of Tulsa, OK, Bob (Teri) Anson of Marshalltown, and Greg (Linda) Anson of Chelsea, OK; his 8 grandchildren and his 11 great-grandchildren; and his brother Jerry (Marilyn) Anson of Marshalltown. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Kip Anson.
