Edna Arlene Bryngelson Botton, 99, of Westminster, Colorado, died early Sunday morning, February 15th, at her home where she had been residing with her daughter Linda since August of 2004. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 19th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Gregg Davison of the Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Strand Lutheran Cemetery at Dunbar. Visitation will be held from 4-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Edna was born December 18th, 1909, in Dunbar, Iowa, to Albert and Nellie Gunderson Bryngelson. She attended Iowa State Teachers College and received her teaching certificate. Edna taught country school with grades 1 through 8 until she married her high school sweetheart, Alfred Botton on June 3, 1931, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived in the Dunbar and Gladbrook areas until 1960 when they moved into a house that Alfred built for them in Marshalltown. They had two children, Richard and Linda. When her children were older, she returned to teaching at St. Henry’s Catholic School which she enjoyed. Edna was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, various women’s groups, and had been a member of Son’s of Norway. She was very active and loved to sew, crochet, garden, read, play cards, and travel all over the United States and to Norway with her family and friends. At the age of 95, she and her daughter vacationed in Maui. She drover her car until the age of 96. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Macha of Westminster, Colorado; five grandchildren- David Botton, Diane Holt, Albert Botton, Eric Macha and Amy Read; 8 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Glen, husband Alfred in 1995, son Richard in 1962 and granddaughter, Darla.
