Lois "Mrs. Albert, Jr." (Hooper) Dierks, 72, of Gladbrook, died Friday, April 18, 2008 at her home while in care of her loving family and Cedar Valley Hospice. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook with Pastor Robert Doner officiating. She will be laid to rest at a later date in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Peace United Church of Christ on the lower level on Monday from 5-7:00 p.m. There will be a 6:00 p.m. Order of the Eastern Star service. Memorials may be directed to the Peace United Church of Christ, Order of the Eastern Star or the Cedar Valley Hospice in her memory. Born Lois Hooper on May 18th, 1935, in rural Tama County, she was the daughter of Raymond and Minnie (Dahms) Hooper. She attended country schools and graduated from the Gladbrook High School in 1952. On April 4th, 1954, she was united in marriage to Albert Dierks, Jr. at the Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. They made their home at Gladbrook where she was employed with Klinefelter Feeds and the family businesses of Casey’s in Conrad and A & W in Forest City. She was an active member of the Peace United Church of Christ, the Order of the Eastern Star, Evening Women’s Guild, church choir and the Neighborhood Club. Many will remember her helping others, her love of family, gardening, playing cards, cribbage, doing crafts and water skiing and camping. She will be greatly missed by many. Left to cherish her memory are Albert “Junior”, her loving husband of 54 years, four children: Donn (Jacquie) of Council Bluffs, Kent (Vicki) of Denver, Iowa, Jill (Doug) Lutes of Conrad, and Scot (Jamie) of Forest City, grandchildren: Devin, Crystal, Savannah, Ryan, Tyler and Nicole, her siblings: Jim (Jeanne) Hooper of Lincoln, Maxine Schoel of Gladbrook, George (Barb) Hooper of Conrad, Phyllis (Marlin) Moeller of Beaman and Doris (Bob) Chabal of Grundy Center as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death she has rejoined her parents.
