*** IN LOVING MEMORY OF ***
June Iris (Solomon) Scheffert, 81, of Marshalltown entered into eternal life Monday, April 14, 2008 at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, April 18th at the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 pm Thursday evening at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Redeemer Lutheran Church or the American Red Cross. For condolences, please visit the funeral home's website. June Iris Salomon was born January 21, 1927 in Ft. Dodge, IA. She was adopted as an infant by Karl and Nathalie (Mueller) Salomon. She grew up in Marshalltown and graduated with the Class of 1944. She attended Central Iowa Business College while working at Stone’s Restaurant. She then worked in the offices of Fisher Governor, Landon & Landon and Western Manufacturing. June married her high school sweetheart, Lewis “Gene” Scheffert, on November 17, 1946 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church. They lived their entire life in Marshalltown and had one daughter, Jan (Warren) Wolken. They have also been blessed with two grandchildren, Travis & Talia Wolken. June loved music; and, along with her mother, she was a church organist and choir director at Redeemer Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed her church circle and being a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She played 500 in several different card clubs over the years. She loved to volunteer at the Marshalltown Hospital in the gift shop and for the Red Cross. She enjoyed being a part of the Mall Walker Group at the Marshalltown Centre. June and Gene went on many trips (most times on a bus) in their retirement years with their special traveling friends, Harvey and Elna - before Gene’s health no longer made that possible. They loved attending their grandchildren’s concerts, dance recitals, etc. And enjoyed the Marshalltown community concerts. June loved working in her yard, and in the final months of her life, enjoyed her new Pomeranian grand-puppy, “Autumn” who came and visited her at the hospital and at Southridge Nursing Home with Jan and the kids. June has gone to be with her Lord and Savior and the many others who have gone before her - including her beloved Gene and her parents. In addition to her daughter and family, those left to cherish her memory are 3 brothers-in-law; 4 sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a multitude of friends.
