GLADBROOK — Winifred G. Thomsen, 97, of Gladbrook, died Jan. 20, 2008, at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook of natural causes.

Following cremation rites, a memorial service for Winifred will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook, with inurnment in Gethmann Cemetery, east of Gladbrook.

She was born to Fred and Marie Gethmann on Sept. 10, 1910, in rural Gladbrook. Winifred graduated from Gladbrook High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College. She then graduated from State College of Iowa in 1964. She taught school from then until she retired in 1976. She married Lloyd Thomsen on Sept. 1, 1932, in Sioux Falls, S.D. Lloyd passed away, after 58 years of marriage, on Oct. 28, 1990.

She will be missed by her three sons, Richard (Gloria) of Waverly, Fred of Kingsport, Ind. and Ralph (Ardell) of Little Rock, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In eternal life she joins her husband, Lloyd; seven sisters; and one brother.
