The Times Republican, Marshalltown, Iowa, Wednesday, April 18, 1900

William Hilsabeck, one of the best known residents of the southern part of the county, died Tuesday afternoon at his home, eight miles south of the city. He was past 80 years old and his death resulted more from the infirmities of age than from any specific disease. It is forty-eight years since Mr. Hilsabeck moved with his wife and family to the neighborhood in which he died and the family has been a prominent one. Mrs. Hilsabeck died in 1886 and since then Mr. Hilsabeck has lived on a small farm, cared for by an unmarried daughter. Ten children and about fifty grandchildren survive him. Rev. Isaac Johnson will conduct the services Friday morning at 10:00 o’clock at the Ferguson Church and the burial will be at Timber Creek.
