Wengert
45th Anniversary

Mr. And Mrs. Clarence Wengert, well known residents of this community, celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary last Thursday evening at St. John’s Lutheran Church with a service at 7:00 p.m. Following the service, a reception for 150 guests was held in the church basement.

Mrs. Jim Richeson and Mrs. August Lahr, sisters of Mr. Wengert, were dining room hostess and pourer respectively. Those who served were Sue Wengert, Barbara and Beverly Robertson, granddaughters of the honored couple and Karen Buck and Barbara Bartine.

Marguerite Schuler of Marshalltown had charge of the guest book and Arlene Kuhlman of Marshalltown and Betty Eggers of State Center had charge of the gifts. They received many lovely gifts and cards.

A sort program was given by the grandchildren of the honored couple.

Mary Schuler and Clarence Wengert were married November 17, 1910 at St. John’s Lutheran Church by Rev. Boehm, with four attendants, three of which are still living: Mrs. John Boeckenhauer of Des Plaines, Ill., a sister of Mr. Wengert, who was unable to attend, Arthur Edler of Beloit, Wisc., Edward Schuler of Nevada, brother of Mrs. Wengert, and Ida Schuler, now deceased.

Mr. And Mrs. Wengert were the parents of seven children: Elwood, who died in infancy, Vyron and Randall Wengert, Maxine Eggers, all of State Center, Lamont of St. Anthony, Dorothy Robertson of Clemons and Rita Bowers of marshalltown. They also have sixteen grandchildren.

Those attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schuler and Orville Schuler of Welcome, Minn., and Arthur Edler of Beloit, Wisc., and many others from surrounding towns.
