Winifred Louise Hyatt, age 97, passed away on October 4, 2011 at Griffin Nursing Center, Knoxville, IA. She was born December 30, 1913, in Forestville, NY, to Edgar and Anna (Storm) Smith.
Winifred married Wilbur Wood on November 20, 1934 and together they had two children: Beverly and Richard. Wilbur passed away in 1950. In 1955, she married Jack Hyatt, who brought four children, Jackie, Janet, Judy, and Kathye to the family.
Richard Wood; husbands: Wilbur Wood and Jack Hyatt; brother, Randall Smith; sisters: Leone Schulz and Valiere Mason; sons-in-law; Robert Jones and Jim Konrad; and long time companion, Art Logli.
She is survived by her daughters: Beverly Jones of Knoxville, Judy Konrad of Indianola, Kathye (Jerry) Law of Maxwell, and Janet Coldwell; son Jackie (Doris) Hyatt of Knoxville; daughter-in-law, Lynn Wood of Carlisle, and brother, Howard Smith (Billie) of Urbandale, sister-in-law, Beverly Smith; brother-in-law, Robert Schulz; many grandchildren; great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial for Winifred Hyatt will be Friday, October 7, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Open visitation will be held at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas from 12 to 4 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2011. Family will greet friends on Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery Fund or Hospice of Central Iowa (HCI). Online condolences: www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com.
