Services for Jo Mary Smith, 86, will be Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the New Hope United Methodist Church in Melcher-Dallas. Family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the New Hope United Methodist Church. Condolences for the family may be left at pierschbacherfuneralhome.com.
Jo Mary taught Junior High English and Reading in Melcher-Dallas for many years. Jo Mary passed away August 3, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband Laverne Smith and brothers, Lyle and Arlo Roberts. Jo Mary is survived by her daughters, JoAnne (Craig) Anderson of Chariton, Barbara Hillebrand of Carlisle, and Peggy (Gary) Freese of Johnston; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Jean Roberts of Mt Pleasant, MI, and twin sister, JoAnne Tarrant of Pleasantville.
