PELLA - Dorothy M. Ver Meer, 81, of Pella, died Friday, April 27, at Pella Regional Health Center in Pella.

Her funeral service was held April 30 at Faith Christian Reformed Church in Pella, the Rev. Carl A. Heuss and the Rev. John H. Piersma officiating. Burial: Black Oak Township Cemetery near Pella. Memorials: Pella Christian Grade School, Pella Christian High School or Covenant Reformed Church of Pella. Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Myrtle De Zwarte was born March 16, 1920, on a farm south of Pella, to John and Marie Goemaat De Zwarte. She was educated at Pleasant Grove Country Grade School. On Feb. 12, 1941, she married Tunis G. Ver Meer in his parents' farm home. They farmed the family farm three miles east of Pella until 1978, when they moved into Pella.

Dorothy enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as sewing, baking and gardening, doing ceramics and collecting butterflies. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Pella, where she was active in various circles. At the time of her death she was a member of Covenant Reformed Church of Pella. She also was active with Pella Christian High School Auxiliary.

She is survived by three children and spouses: Jerry L. and Ruth Verschuure Ver Meer of Pella, Rosemary and Jerry Terborg of Pella, and Donald W. and Donna Van Wyngarden Ver Meer of Boulder, Colo.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother and their spouses: Jennie (Henry) Van Essen, Margaret and Vernon Menninga, all of Pella, and Verlan and Betty De Zwarte of Chariton.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
