KNOXVILLE - James Vern Nash, 89, of Knoxville, died Monday, April 23, at Griffin Nursing Center. His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church. Burial: Graceland Cemetery. Visiting hours at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville are open today, with family present 7-8 p.m. Memorials: Alzheimer's Association.
James Vern Nash was born in Mahaska County and attended school in Lacey. He farmed for a few years, then worked at Standard Oil, then was self-employed as co-owner of Goff & Nash Motor Parts Store, retiring in 1964.
He was a 20-year board member of Community National Bank, now Wells Fargo Bank. He was a member of the Agriculture Development Association, Izaak Walton League, Marion County Sportsman Clubs, and First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian Nash of Knoxville; a son, Dr. Larry Nash of Fairfield; a daughter, Sally Phillips of Knoxville; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
