PELLA - Edna J. Klein, 87, a resident of the Long Term Care Unit of Pella Regional Health Center and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Friday, July 13, at the care center.

Her funeral service was 10:30 a.m. today at Central Reformed Church in Oskaloosa, the Rev. Don DeGlopper officiating. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Leighton. Memorials: Central Reformed Church or Pella Regional Health Center Long Term Care Unit. Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa is in charge of arrangements.

Edna Klein was born March 4, 1914, in Mahaska County, to Henry and Bertha Roorda Brummel.

On June 5, 1939, she married Lester Klein at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died Aug. 22, 1992. They farmed in Mahaska County, first in Madison Township, and later for many years in Garfield Township. They moved into Oskaloosa in February 1982.

Edna moved to Pella in May 1994 to Hilltop. She was a member of Central Reformed Church in Oskaloosa, and had taught Sunday school and was a member of a Bible study group for many years. She was a former member of the Friendly Circle and later West Garfield Community Club neighborhood groups.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Marcia and Alvin Van Maanen of Oskaloosa and Joyce and Clarence Rempe of Pella; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Howard and Nancy Brummel of Monroe and Jim and Marilyn Brummel of Oskaloosa; four sisters: Esther (and Orville) Bensink of Pella, and Ann Groenendyk, Virginia (and Herman) Simons and Mildred (and Ray) DeZwarte, all of Oskaloosa; two brothers-in-law: Edward Goemaat and Henry Lanser, both of Oskaloosa; and two sisters-in-law: Edith Brummel of Knoxville and Mildred (Klein) Boyd of New Sharon.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a great-grandson, Joshua Stahl; a brother, Virgil Brummel; and three sisters: Ada Olson, Bernice Goemaat and Clara Lanser.
