PELLA - Antonie Aart Nunnikhoven, 92, of Des Moines and formerly of Pella, died Monday, Dec. 16, at Trinity Center at Luther Park, Des Moines.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella. Visiting hours begin noon Friday at the funeral home, with family present 6:30-8 p.m. Friday. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Pella. Memorials: Bible Truth Publishers or the American Red Cross.
Antonie Aart Nunnikhoven was born Sept. 10, 1910, in Pella to Johan Adriaan and Maria Bastina van Herwijne Nunnikhoven.
He married Margaret Spence of Madrid on March 21, 1936. He lived 63 years in Burlington; he retired in 1986 as head of accounting for Chittenden and Eastman Company in Burlington. After retiring he lived in Pella for 14 years before moving to Des Moines. He was a former trustee of the Burlington Hospital and former chairman of the Disaster Relief Program of the American Red Cross. He was a member of Those that Gather in the Name of the Lord in Pella.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Des Moines; four sons and daughters-in-law: John and Betty Nunnikhoven of Chester, Vt., Joe and Pat Nunnikhoven of Dana Point, Calif., Tom and Kathy Nunnikhoven of Memphis, Tenn., and Steve and Marika Nunnikhoven of West Burlington; two daughters and sons-in-law: Marcia and Paul Thomas of West Orange, N.J., and Nelda and Dave Pealer of Pella; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two stepmothers: Mama Van Lissel and Minnie Mathers; his first wife, Martha Sellers; and a brother, Aart Nunnikhoven.
