PELLA - Norman L. Van Wyk, 66, of Pella, died Monday, April 15, at his home near Pella.

His memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery in Pella, 9:30 a.m. Friday. Memorials: Interchange Freedom Initiative (Prison Fellowship Ministries) in Newton, or Cary Christian Center in Cary, Miss. Visiting hours begin 6 p.m. today and continue until 4 p.m. Thursday at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella. The family will greet visitors 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Norman L. Van Wyk was born Sept. 17, 1935, in Rose Hill to Will D. and Nellie G. Bruxvoort Van Wyk. He had farmed near Sully and in the Lower Grove vicinity near Pella.

On Nov. 16, 1954, he married Marilyn R. Van Gorp in Sully. His last employment was at Vermeer Manufacturing in Pella, where he worked 1977 to 1999 on the assembly line; he retired in 1999. He enjoyed woodworking and restoring antique tractors. He was a member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella, Red Rock Threshers, and Interchange Freedom Initiative (Prison Fellowship Ministries) in Newton. He had served in the United States military.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn R. Van Wyk of Pella; six daughters and sons-in-law: Bonnie S. and John Verburg of Pella, Norma L. and David Y'deen of China Hills, Calif., Karen J. and Edwin Spoelstra of Leighton, Rosa M. and Bernie Veenstra of Pella, Diane R. and Bob Mitchell of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Joy M. and Steve Flinchum of Pella; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Armour and Carolyn Van Wyk and Elvin and Betty Van Wyk, all of Pella; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Anna Mae and Herman Van Mersbergen and Gerdena and Charles Stursma, all of Pella; two sisters-in-law: Joyce (Mrs. Delmar) Van Wyk and Arvena (Mrs. Dennis) Van Wyk, both of Pella; her mother-in-law: Marjorie Lester Van Gorp of Pella; 17 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
