Knoxville April 1903

William Thompson Kincaid, whose death was briefly mentioned last week, was born in Lincoln (now Gaston) county, North Carolina, December 24, 1824; died April 13, 1903, aged 78 years, 3 months and 19 days. He came to Gosport in 1858, and has resided in Iowa ever since. Enlisted as private in Co. F. 40th Iowa Infantry Vol. Married Oct. 1, 1865, Miss Martha Jane Gregory; to them were born two daughters, the elder dying in infancy and Dora (now Mrs. G.F. Klingensmith) living in Monroe county. His wife died May 3, 1876, and he again married, Miss Mary A. Romesha becoming his bride May 27, 1877, to which union were born 8 children, 4 girls and 4 boys--Anna, Ada, Laura(now Mrs. W.I. Ross),Naomi,Willie J., Emmet,John and George--who mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. He also leaves an aged sister and brother and five grandchildren. The funeral occurred at Gosport, conducted by Revs. Orcutt and Boothe and the G.A. R. , of which he was a member. George Taylor Post. No. 317 Columbia, had charge
