Thomas Shay, Harvey, Died on Christmas Day
Well Known Railroad Man Passed Away at the Age of 54 Years
Thomas Shay, a well-known railroad man, died at his home in Harvey on Christmas day. Mr. Shay was 54 years old.
Funeral services were conducted by Lacy H. Thompson. Railroad officials in his division, as well as many of his friends were present at the final rites.
Thomas William Everett Shay was born September 18, 1883 in Whiteside County, Illinois. In 1916 he was married to Grace Larew of Harvey and to this union were born five girls and one son: Harriette Isabelle Shay, Harry Edwin Shay, Beatrice Aldora Shay, Mildred Flossie Shay, Betty Jane Shay, and Birdie Jean Shay, all of Harvey.
In addition to his children, he is survived by his wife, one brother, Lester of Carbon Cliff, Ill., and three sisters, Mrs. T. R. Spangler of Orient, Ia., Mrs. Pearl Brooks and Mrs. James Fleming, both of East St. Louis, Ill.
Mr. Shay will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. The deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved wife, daughters, son, sisters and brother.
