Magcheltje Van der Kreck (also Vandee Crake and various other spellings) was the oldest of five children born to Arie Van Der Kreek and Marija De Koomen. She married Arie De Reus on 5 April 1834 in Mijnsheerenland, Zuid Holland, Netherlands. Arie was the only child of Pieter Arieszn and Neeltje (Meeldijk) DeReus.
They had nine children of which only four sons lived to become adults: Arie Jr., Pieter, Marinus and Nelis. The records of the births and deaths of their children came from the Netherlands National Archives and old Dutch Church Records.
Records show that the family of six boarded the ship "York Town" in London, arriving in the Port of New York on 15 May, 1850. They are shown on the 1850 census, enumerated on 11 Sep 1850, living in Lake Prairie Township.
In 1860 Arie and his family were still living in Lake Prairie. He was farming and his sons were helping with the work.
Maggie died on 2 Feb 1881. 13 years after her death, Arie would remarry Elizabeth (Jagtenberg) Donker, a widow on 30 May 1894 in Pella, Iowa.
