Donna Jean (Firman) Goode was born on April 3, 1927 in Newton, Iowa, the daughter of Roy Burl and Bess Eliza (Shepard) Firman.

Donna graduated from Newton High School in the class of 1944. Her family moved to Des Moines, Iowa a short time later. There Donna went to nurses training at Iowa Methodist Hospital. She spent many years as a nurse in the Des Moines area.

During her early years in Des Moines, Donna met her future husband, Robert W. Goode. They were married in December 1946 in Polk County, Iowa. To this union were born two children: Susan Barbara Town and Jinnie Nan (Roger) Stoll. Donna and Robert divorced when the children were young.

As time went on Donna developed interests that led her into both the kennel business and craft business. She ran the two businesses concurrently and was successful at both endeavors. She was an avid animal lover, boarding and grooming dogs and cats. She also had a very creative mind focusing on oil painting, giving lessons and writing instructional manuals. After-hours, she loved gardening and would spend days planning and growing her garden.

After retiring, Donna moved to Pella, Iowa where she lived for the next 17 years. On August 17, 2020, she passed away at 93 years of age with family at her side. At her request her body has been cremated.

She was of the Methodist faith.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Wayne Firman.

She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her daughters, Susan and Jinnie, 3 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
