Funeral services for Glenn Ingle, 85, of Ankeny, formerly of Otley, were held August 23, at the Second Reformed Church in Pella, the Rev. Norman J. Schouten and Rev. Steven Mathonnet-Vander Well, officiants. Music was provided by organist Dr. Davis Folkerts and soloist Mr. Dale Jansen. The ushers were Dr. Donald Butler and Dr. Kenneth J. Weller.

Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Military honors by the Van Veen-Van Hemert American Legion Post No. 89 of Pella, Iowa. Casket bearers were Brad Maxwell, Joe Merrill, Ken West and Scott Meyer. Honorary casket bearers were Mr. Der Dillon, Mr. Mike Engstrom, Mr. Bill Reed, Mr. Lyle Schrum, Mr. Wayne Sellner, Mr. Rollins Short, Mr. Robert Skinner and Mr. Cornie Van Gorp.

Glenn LeRoy Ingle was born on November 3, 1916 near Runnells, Iowa. He was the seventh of thirteen children born to Charles and Electa G. Miller Ingle. Glenn graduated from high school at Runnells and then attended Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines. His first employment was with Bankers Life in Des Moines.

In 1942 he began working for the Iowa State Office of the U.S. Savings Bonds Division. His employment there was interrupted during World War II. In January of 1944 he was inducted into the U.S. Army Infantry and was discharged in May of 1946. Following his discharge, he returned to his position with the U.S. Savings Bonds Division.

On July 14, 1963 he and V. Orleath Vogelaar were united in marriage at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. Glenn and Orleath continued to live in Des Moines where Glenn retired as the state director in January of 1972. Following his retirement, he was employed part-time with the Iowa College Foundation for ten years. Glenn and Orleath made their residence in Des Moines until 1984 when they resided at Park Hills near Otley, Iowa and Cape Coral, Florida. They have continued to winter in Florida and since 1999 also made their residence in Ankeny, Iowa.

Glenn was a member of the Second Reformed Church in Pella and an affiliate member of the Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral. He enjoyed traveling and visiting and entertaining family and friends.

On Tuesday morning, August 20, 2002 Glenn passed away at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines where he had been a patient just five days. He attained the age of 85 years, nine months and 17 days.

He is survived by his wife, Orleath V. Ingle of Ankeny; his daughter, Sonja M. Maxwell and her husband, Larry of Bettendorf; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Of his original family, he leaves the following brothers and their wives: Lester and Margaret Ingle of Iowa Falls; Marvin and Melda Ingle of Vandalia; Vern and Nora Lee Ingle of Swan; sisters-in-law: Thelma (Walter) Ingle of Des Moines; Elsie (Paul) Ingle of Runnells; Eunice (Gilbert) Ingle of Des Moines; and a brother-in-law, Clifford Duckstein of Prairie City.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carole Elaine (Squaires) Wagoner who died in 1978; his parents: Charles and Electa Ingle; one brother and two sisters who died in infancy; his brothers: Goldie, Walter, Paul, Harold and Gilbert Ingle; and his only sister, Hazel (Clifford) Duckstein.

Arrangements were handled by Van Dyk - Duven Funeral Home in Pella.

Memorials may be made to the Second Reformed Church in Pella or the American Lung Association.
