Funeral services for Janet S. De Kock, 82, of Pella were held July 9 at the Trinity Reformed Church in Pella, the Pastor Chris Piersma and pastor Norm Kolenbrander officiating. Music was provided by organist Ilda Lou Van Zee and special music by Dan and Robyn Van Roekel.

Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery in Leighton. Casket bearers were A. Timothy Van Roekel, Daniel Van Roekel, Kimberly Wedel, Russell Wedel, Matthew De Kock and Chad Heidecker.

Janet S. De Kock, the daughter of Gerrit and Cornelia (Hollebrands) Kolenbrander, was born July 18, 1919, on the family farm in Mahaska County, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2002 at Pella Regional Health Center in Pella, at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 18 days.

Janet made a profession of her faith at the age of 16 at Third Reformed Church in Pella. On March 30, 1939, Jane married Albert De Kock at her sister, Johanna's home in Pella. Janet lived in Oskaloosa for 63 years before moving to Pella three years ago. Janet worked as a nurse's aide at the Mahaska Hospital for many years. Janet was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Pella, where she volunteered for many women's church organizations. She was a Sunday School teacher and a Bible study leader. Janet was the past-president of the Ladies Kiwanis, a Hospice volunteer and an avid reader.

She is survived by her husband, Albert T. De Kock of Pella; two sons and their wives, Arlan and Linda De Kock of Rolla, Missouri, and Ron and Kathy De Kock of Rolla, Missouri; one daughter and her husband, Janice and Gerald Van Roekel of Sioux Center, Iowa; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Berdina and her husband Val Van Rheenen of Pella, and Angeline (Mrs. William) Van Rheenen of Pella.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene Audrey De Kock; her parents, Gerrit and Cornelia (Hollebrands) Kolenbrander; five brothers, Dick, Elias, Henry, William and James Kolenbrander; and three sisters, Johanna (Mrs. A.A.) Ver Meer, Rachel (Mrs. William) Van Dusseldorp, and Laurina (Mrs. Andy) Kool.

Arrangements were handled by Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Pella.
