Funeral services for Andrew VanderLinden, 78, of Pella, who died Thursday, June 15, 2000 at the Pella Regional Health Center, were held Monday, June 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Third Reformed Church in Pella. Reverend John Van Den Berg and Reverend Andy Kamphuis officiated at the services. Lena Vandenberg was organist. Special music was provided by Ilene Smiley.

Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery. Casket bearers were Dennis Den Adel, Kenneth Vander Linden, Matthew Vander Linden, Michael Vander Linden, Derek Vander Linden and Christopher Vander Linden.

Andrew was born on August 28, 1921 near Leighton, the son of Carl and Nelly (Dahm) Vander Linden. He attended Black Oak Center School. He was baptized in the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Leighton at an early age. He later moved to Peoria where he attended the Peoria Christian School.

Andrew was marred to Junella Grandia on June 24, 1949.

Andrew and Junella farmed south of Leighton for a few years, then moved to Pella where Andrew worked for Vermeer Manufacturing for over 25 years. He retired in 1984.

Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Nelly (Dahm) Vander Linden; and a brother, Henry Vander Linden.

Andrew is survived by his wife, Junella of Pella; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stanley Vander Linden of Iowa City and Howard and Cheryl Vander Linden of Earlham; four grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, Derek and Aislinn; three sisters, Catherine Feyen of Grand Rapids Mich., Jennie Wiltin of Edonton, Alberta, and Stella Holstadt of N.C.; two brothers, Cornie Vander Linden of Clarinda and Marion Vander Linden of Pella.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Pella.

Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Home.
