Funeral services for Viola May Van Wyk, 81, of Pella, who died on Sunday, September 10, 2000, at the Pella Regional Health Center-Sheltered Care Unit, were held on Thursday, September 14 at Trinity Reformed Church in Pella. Rev. Don Plantinga officiated at the services.

Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Viola was born in rural Pella on November 19, 1918, the daughter of Hugo and Johanna (Vander Streek) Steenhoek.

Viola married Warren Van Wyk on February 4, 1942. She lived in the Pella area all her life. She worked as a seamstress at Richard's Cleaners and was currently retired.

Viola enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting and baking. She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Pella.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Lester, Dale and an infant brother, Arthur Paul Steenhoek; and a daughter, Connie Van Wyk.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Lowell and Denise Van Wyk and Bruce and Trudy Van Wyk, all of Pella; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Myron, Reuben, Leroy, and Alfred Steenhoek, all of Pella; one sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Richard Van Wyk of New Hope, Minn.; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Mitchel of Pella and Mary Vande Pol of Haywarden.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Reformed Church in Pella.

Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Home.
