Funeral services for Eva Ellen Crandall, 89, of Pleasantville, formerly of Chariton, who died on Sunday, September 3, 2000 at Pleasant Care Living Center in Pleasantville, were held on Tuesday, September 5, at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home. Rev. Norman Bennett officiated at the services. Alan Finestead was soloist. Jim Kidder was organist.

Interment was at Gosport Cemetery in Marion County. Casket bearers were Jim VendenOver, Arthur Crandall, Tommy Anderson, Johnnie Irving, Darwin Damon and Arlan Finestead.

Eva was born on June 25, 1911 in Melcher, the daughter of Rex Alto and Bessie Ethel Hopkins Damon. She graduated from Melcher High School.

She married Waldo Crandall on June 24, 1937 on the family farm in Marion County. They lived their entire married lives on their farm in Lucas County.

In addition to helping her husband on the farm, Eva was a loving mother and homemaker. She was also a member of Pleasant Prairie Methodist Church.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of rural Chariton; one daughter, Bethalene Finestead of Granger; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Prairie Methodist Church.

Arrangements were made by Evans-McCleery Funeral Home.
