Graveside funeral services for Roger Paul Tancrede, 64, who died on Tuesday, October 23, 2001, at the Knoxville V.A. Medical Center, were held on Friday, October 26, at Graceland Cemetery. Rev. Sylvester Conrad officiated at the services.

Casketbearers were Chad Smith, Randy Sherbon, Allen, Jason and Danny Tancrede and Curtis VanderHart. Honorary casketbearers were all of Roger's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Military honors were accorded by American Legion Baty-Tucker Post No. 168 and V.F.W. John Myers Post No. 3519.

Roger was born on December 28, 1936, in Blackstone, Mass., the son of Oliver and Lucienne (Manderville) Tancrede.

He was raised in Massachusetts and lived there until entering the Army in 1954. He served until his discharge in 1956 at which time he moved to Colorado Springs with his first wife, Elaine Lambert. Elaine passed away several years ago. On March 5, 1985, Roger was united in marriage to Mary Wallace in Littleton, Colo.

Roger worked for American Airlines as a line technician for 12 years before his retirement. For the last two years he has been battling dementia. In April of 2001 he and Mary moved to Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tina; wife, Elaine; a brother, Jerry; and a sister, Shirley.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; three sons, Roger, Jr. of Fife, Wash., Danny of Parker, Colo. and Allen of Aurora, Colo.; two daughters, Cathern Campbell of Aurora, Colo. and Vickie Sherbon of Parker, Colo.; a step-son, Michael DeMoss of Seattle, Wash.; three step-daughters, Martha Shaw of Aurora, Colo., Rhonda VanderHart of New Sharon and Rebecca Smith of Columbia; two sisters, Simonne Daniels of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Elaine Laserriere of Blackstone, Mass.; a brother, Don of Dalton, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Arrangements were made by Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.
