Mrs. Walter Nollen nee Maggie Van Houweling, was born on July 1, 1874 near Pella, Iowa, the daughter of Gysbert Van Houweling and Neeltje De Jong. She died at Skiff Memorial Hospital at Newton, Iowa, November 8, 1946 after a period of prolonged suffering. she had reached the age of 72 years, 4 months and 7 days.
On November 23, 1899 she was united in marriage to Walter Nollen. The greater part of their married life was spent on the family homestead 3 miles west of Pella. To this union five children were born all of whom survive.
Mrs. Nollen made her confession of faith in Christ while a young woman and united with the Second Reformed Church of Pella where she remained a faithful member until the time of her death.
Her husband precede her in death on April 16, 1940. She leaves to mourn her passing her five children, Dorothy, Mrs. John R. Van Gorp of Pella, the Rev. Marion Nollen of Cambria, Wis., Herman, Elmer, and Myron of Pella, also 12 grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, A.D. Van Houweling and two sisters, Ida, Mrs. N.N. Terlouw and Dena, Mrs. A.A. Roorda, all of Pella. Four sisters and one brother preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 11, 1946 at the Van Dyk Funeral Home and at the Second Reformed Church with the Rev. R.J. Vanden Berg officiating. Interment at Oakwood cemetery.
