Loretta D. (Jebe) Immel, 78, died Saturday morning at her home in Painted Rocks. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at American Lutheran Church in La Porte City with interment following in the West View Cemetery at La Porte City.

daughter of Wesley F. and Mabel (Jurgens) Jebe Sr.

Loretta Dorothy Jebe was born in Benton County, IA on March 20, 1935, to Wesley F. Jebe, Sr. and Mabel Jurgens Jebe. She graduated Valedictorian from La Porte City High School in La Porte City, IA in 1952 and received a B. S. in Home Economics Education from Iowa State University at Ames, IA in 1956.

Loretta taught Home Economics at Lake Mills, Forest City, Rockwell and Oxford, IA High Schools. She and William J. (Bill) Immel were united in marriage in 1960 at Waterloo, IA and spent the next two years in Iowa City, IA where she taught at Oxford High School while Bill attended the University of Iowa.

Following his graduation, the C.I.A. recruited him and they lived in Northern Virginia for the next 29 years. They raised their children there and Loretta later became a sales lady in women's apparel at Rodier and Macy's.

They retired in 1990 and returned to Iowa where they built their retirement home in Painted Rocks overlooking Lake Red Rock.

Loretta passed away there on Saturday morning, November 30, 2013.

Loretta loved to travel, sew, read, assemble puzzles and after enjoying performances at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. was pleased to discover the Des Moines Civic Center.

She is survived by her husband, Bill, and their children: Lorna, Lisa and William J.(Jay) Immel; and the following Uncle and Aunts: Jim and Virginia Abernathy of Evansdale, Dorothy Morrison and Caroline Rock of La Porte City, and Isabel Schuck of Elberon, IA.

A visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the American Lutheran Church in La Porte City with a visitation one hour prior.
