A. C. Kuyper

Arie Cornelius Kuyper, son of Hugo Kuyper and Jacoba Betten was born in Pella, Iowa on August 25, 1864. He departed this life on Sunday, December 9, 1956 at the age of 92 years, 3 months and 14 days.

He was united in marriage to Marie Elizabeth Kruidenier on June 21, 1892. To this union 5 daughters were born. Surviving are Estelle, Mrs. Fred Bartow of Washington, Iowa; Magdalene, Mrs. Gerrit Vander Stoep of Pittsfield, Ill.; Esther, Mrs. J. G. Boat; and Harriet, both of Pella. He also leaves his sister, Miss Sarah Kuyper, 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife on August 15, 1935 and a daughter, Helen Marie on September 10, 1951.

In earlier life, Mr. Kuyper was a retail merchant in Pella and for a number of years was Pella's City Clerk.

He was a life long member of the Baptist church where he was faithful at worship services and zealous in serving the church in various capacities.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 1955 from the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Everett G. Ward was in charge, with Mrs. Hospers Kuyper, accompanied by Henry Cox at the organ singing, "Saved By Grace."

Casket Bearers were Ray J. De Haan, Dr. T. G. Fultz, H. Stuart Kuyper, Frank N. De Wit, John A. Vander Wal, Eugene Wormhoudt. Burial was made in the Oakwood Cemetery at Pella.
