William Vande Lune

William Vande Lune, son of Gerit Vande Lune and Rensche Hoogstra, was born on a farm near Leighton, Ia., on March 12, 1885. He was married to Lena Vander W??? at Otley, Ia. in 1912. Until their retirement, when they moved to Pella, their married years were spent on the farm. To this union were born 8[?] children. He made profession of faith in the Otley Christian Reformed Church, later transferring his membership to the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella.

Surviving beside his wife Lena, are 7 children: Gertrude, Mrs. Gert Van Dyke of Pella; Ruth, Mrs. Merle Kallemyn of Grimes, Ia., Wilbert, Frances, Leonard, Marion and Shirley Vande Lune, all of Pella, and 14 grandchildren. Also 2 brothers and 2 sisters survive. Bert of Pella and Rev. John Vande Lune Orange City, Mrs. Artie Fennema of New Sharon and Mrs. Sarah LeCocq of Pella.

He was preceded in death by an infant son and 2 brothers, Auke and Peter, and 3 sisters, Maggie, Mrs. Andrew Van Houwe???; Annie, Mrs. Gerrit Andringa Sr. and Ella, Mrs. Kempenaar[?].

He passed away at his residence 816 Lincoln St. in Pella on Wednesday morning Jan 18, 1956 having reached the age of 70 years, 10 months and 6 days.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 20th 1956 from the 1st Christian Reformed Church in Pella. Family prayer services at 1:30 from the sanctuary with the Dr. P. Y. De Jong in charge. Burial was made in Oakwood Cemetery.
