Donna Jean Randol, age 78 of Knoxville, passed away Friday evening, July 12, 2013, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center of Des Moines, Iowa.
Donna was born at home in Pershing on July 13, 1934, the twin daughter of Clyde and Birdie Mae (Roberts) Long. Donna’s family moved to Knoxville when she was very young. She attended the East Ward School and became friends with a young boy and classmate named Richard Randol. In high school Donna worked for the Marion Theatre and once in a while she would give free popcorn to Richard. Soon Donna and Richard were dating. They would go to dances and prom together.

On January 20, 1952, four months before they graduated, Donna and Richard were united in marriage. They shared over 61 years of marriage together and were blessed with two children: Mark and Diane.

Donna was a homemaker for several years, raising her family before she began working. She worked for the Marion County Treasurers Office, Baker Drugs for many years and she retired from Whylie Eye Care. Donna enjoyed reading, attending the Fairview Christian Church and spending time with her family, of which included many pet dogs through the years. She was also an excellent bookkeeper and her best talent was her wonderful cooking.

Donna is survived by her husband Richard Randol of Knoxville; her son Mark (Kathy) Randol of Pella; and one granddaughter Carla Randol of Pella. Donna is also survived by six nieces: Amy, Nancy, Linda, Carol, Cindy and Lori; four nephews: Matt, Howard, David and Paul; and several great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents Clyde Long and Birdie Butcher; her daughter Diane Bradley; her twin brother Donald Dean Long; and her sister JoAnn Johnson.

Visitation for Donna will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 15, 2013, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville, with Donna’s family present from 5 to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 16th also at the Winfield Funeral Home, with Pastors Brent Hanna and Clinton Wallace officiating. Burial will follow services at Graceland Cemetery of Knoxville.
