James Hamilton Pope, the son of Daniel and Mary Jane Pope, was born on a farm near Knoxville, Iowa, March 17, 1872, and passed away at his home in this city, December 15, 1935, aged 63 years, 8 months and 28 days.

He was united in marriage to Lucy Hummel, at Knoxville, February 14, 1900. To this union four children were born, all of whom are living. Mrs. Helen Wagner, Hubert, Forrest and Wilma, all of Knoxville.

Mr. Pope spent his life until his illness, as a farmer in about Knoxville.

Besides his widow and children, he leaves to mourn his passing three grandchildren, Georgia Wagner, Angeline and Delores Pope; and two sisters, Mrs. Okella Smith, Knoxville; and Mrs. Samantha Green, Des Moines. His parents, one brother and one sister have preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the Bybee and Davis Funeral home Tuesday, at 2 p.m., Rev. A. Vern Cleveland, officiating. Interment in Graceland cemetery ~ Knoxville.
