HARRY A NETTEN

Harry A. Netten, 79, of Pleasant Park Manor in Oskaloosa, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 1990, at the Mahaska County Hospital, in Oskaloosa. He was born on May 16, 1910 at Sprang, Holland, the Netherlands.

Harri Antonte Netten was the seventh of ten children born to Denis Hendrik and Antonia Adriana Klootwyk Netten. Harry came to American in 1012 [sic] with his parents and family who settled at Taintor, Iowa. His formal education, which was through the 5th grade, was received at Haywarden, Iowa. Harry was united in marriage with Marion Banken and to this union one son was born, Harold Dean. He then was united in marriage with Caroline Baughman, who had one daughter Cheryl, and to this union a daughter, Shelby, was born. On February 12, 1971 he was united in marriage with Beulah (Hoksbergen) Dykstra, who had two children: Ronald and Judy. They continued to live in Pella all their married life. For many years, Harry drove truck for Vermeer Manufacturing Company in Pella and later was a school bus driver for the Pella Community Schools. He retired in 1973 from Van Weelden Construction Company where he worked as an office attendant. For the past year he has been a patient at the Pleasant Park Manor in Oskaloosa. He attained the age of 79 years, 7 months and 23 days.

Surviving are his wife, Beulah; his son now Harold D. Bohlen of Shakopee, Minnesota; his daughter, Shelby, Mrs. Skip Allgood of Omaha, Nebaska; his step-daughter, Mrs. Cheryl Lyner of Humeston;; a step-son, Ronald D Dykstra of Bussey; a step-daughter, Mrs. Judy R. Sailor of Pella; five grand-children, five step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Surviving also include his two sisters; Henrietta A.(Etta), Mrs. William A. Van Zee of Pella and Cornelia E. (Kay), Mrs. Clayton McClintic of Indianola, Iowa He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kara D. De Heer, who died September 10, 1988; his parents and the following brothers; Hendrik A. (Henry), Peter, Cornelis (Cornie), Denis Hendrik, and Adrianus J. Netten. Harry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pella.

Funeral services were held on Friday, January 12, at 1:30 p.m.at First Baptist Church in Pella, with Dr. Gary D . Smith, officiating. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella Arrangement by VanDyk-Duven Funeral Home.
