Barbara Louise Steinkemper was a daughter of Walter and Esther Geraldine (Katterhenry) Steinkemper. She was born on November 2, 1930, at Anna, Ohio. Barb graduated from Sidney High School in 1948 and was active with the drama club and in the choir. Barbara was in radio advertising for WERM radio station for 20 years and also spent many years working for The Chalet Restaurant in Wapakoneta, Ohio. She loved to dance and in her younger years was active in the Encore Theatre and Wapakoneta Theatre Guild. She had played Mrs. Strakdush in “Funny Girl”, and was “Witchy Wanda” on the WERM radio show every Halloween. Barbara loved the theatre and music. During her grade school years she and Frank Henry Overman had gotten acquainted as classmates.

Following endless hours on the telephone, Barbara (Steinkemper) Kiser and Dr. Frank Overman renewed their friendship and were married on April 21, 1984, in Wapakoneta. Through that marriage, Barb and her twins, Patricia and Michael Kiser, who were born on May 17, 1953, and Frank’s two daughters, Marcella Anne and Mary Beth, became one family. Barbara moved to Pella, Iowa and she and Dr. Overman enjoyed 25 years of marriage together. They enjoyed traveling and playing bridge. Frank began restoring Packards following his retirement and he and Barb participated in several Packard meets and road trips together. They became snowbirds and traveled to Destin, Florida, each winter, and became founding members of the United Methodist Church in Pella.

On February 11, 2013, Barbara passed away at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella at the age of 82 years.

She is survived by her son, Michael Kiser, of Wapakoneta, her daughter, Patricia (Kiser) Saville and her husband, John, of Guilford, Connecticut; two step-daughters, Marcey (Overman) Mullins and her husband, Glenn, of Bedford, Texas, Mary (Overman) Culver and her husband, Dale, of Shawnee, Kansas; four grandchildren: Lindsay Kiser Bell, Courtney Mullins, Hayley Mullins and Keith Culver; as well as her two sisters: Betty Jones of New Mexico and Joan (Max) Carey of Ohio.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Frank Overman on March 24, 2010. Barb had a wonderful personality, enjoyed reading and had a never ending desire to play bridge. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and laughter, as well as her unwavering devotion to family and friends.
