Pella's Weekblad, dated June 12, 1896, p. 5, col 4: After a happy union of 33 years, my beloved husband Herman Fennema was taken from my side after a brief illness, at the age of 63 years, leaving behind nine children. We grieve for him, but we know that he has gone to the house of his Father, which lessens our deep sorrow.

We gratefully acknowledge the many expressions of kindness, sympathy and friendship which were so amply bestowed upon us by our many neighbors and friends on the occasion of the illness, death and burial of our beloved husband and father…[last part of sentence is illegible].
