Vivian was the second child born to Orie Lee Dawson, Sr. (1896-1972) and Emma Louise Wagner (1899-1990). Vivian married William G. Watkins on Feb. 26, 1938 in Bethany, Missouri. For several years, Vivian battled Alzheimer's Disease.

Vivian Watkins, 89, passed away August 28, 2010 at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines, IA. She was a great Mom and a fantastic grandma who loved to cook, bake and plan family gatherings.

Vivian Lorraine (Dawson) Watkins was born in Des Moines, IA on July 8, 1921 to Orie Lee and Emma Louise (Wagner) Dawson. She was united in marriage to William G. Watkins on February 26, 1938 in Bethany, MO. To this union four children, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson were born.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and four brothers. Those left to mourn her departure are three sons: Wm. Larry (Karen) Watkins of Pleasant Hill, IA; Phillip (Judy) Watkins of Swan, IA; Steven (Vanda) Watkins of Menifee, CA; and one daughter, Phyllis Grinstead of Diamond Springs, CA. She also left grandchildren: Phillip Jr., Donald, Wendy, Mary Kay, Stephanie, Teri, Lisa, Michelle, Christer, Bryan, Julie, Maggie, Merilee, Robin, and Michael; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandson.

In accordance with her wishes Vivian was cremated. A memorial service will be held in California at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa who were so helpful during her final journey.
