Raymond E. Simbro, 71, of Pella died of a liver ailment Monday at Pella Community Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella, with burial in Dunreath Cemetery near Monroe.

Mr. Simbro was born in Marion County and formerly lived in the Runnells area. He retired as an iron worker for Local 67 in Des Moines.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn; two stepsons, Ray Sparks of Monroe and Jerry Sparks of Pella; three step daughters, Diana Brown, Shelia Benz and Donna Kendall, all of Pella; five brothers, Burton of Monroe, Eugene of Knoxville, Jim of Grinnell, Dennis of Baldwin, Wis., and Ronnie of Melroy, Ind.; three sisters, Arlene Hicks of Newton, Betty Schinn of Knoxville and Sharon Witterling of Cadott, Wis.; 15 step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present form 6:30 to 8 p.m. ~ The Newton (A) Daily News, Wed 27 Mar 1996.
