Marlene Lamont Dugger was born on October 26, 1941, at What Cheer, Iowa. He was the third of four children that were born to Bernard LeRoy and Juanita Lydia Smith Dugger.
At an early age he acquired the name of “Skip”, the origin of which was never really known but one he continued to use the remainder of his life. Skip graduated from Tri-County High School at Thornburg, Iowa with the Class of 1959.
On April 15, 1961, he was united in marriage with Mary Kay Spading and to this union two sons were born: James Roy and Timothy Lynn.
Jim and Tim remember their Dad as a fun loving guy who cared a lot about his family and friends. The family lived at Monroe, Iowa at which time Skip was employed at the Pella Corporation in Pella, Iowa.
In later years he was self-employed doing scrap metal recycling. Skip loved to read Western novels and he and his special friend and companion, Laura Thomas, enjoyed traveling.
On Wednesday afternoon, February 18, 2009, he passed away at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella at the age of 67 years.
Skip is survived by his two sons and their families: Jim and Arlene (Van Mersbergen) Dugger and their two children, Mackenzie Leigh and Levi James of Pella, Iowa; Tim Dugger of Leighton, Iowa; Laura Thomas of Pella; a brother, Larry Dugger and his wife, Deb of What Cheer, Iowa; his sister, Dolores and her husband, Jim Leer of Keswick, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Doris (G.Dean) Dugger of What Cheer.
Skip was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Juanita Dugger; a brother, G. Dean Dugger; a nephew, Rick Dugger and a niece, Rhoda Dugger.
