Beulah Verda Hoksbergen was the third of four children born to Louis and Mary Hackert Hoksbergen. She was born on September 17, 1923 on a farm south of Pella, Iowa.

Beulah attended the Pleasant Grove Country Grade School and graduated from eighth grade on August 4, 1937.

Beulah met Albert Dykstra at the town square in Pella and on August 24, 1943, they were united in marriage at the Third Reformed Church in Pella. To this union four children were born, Ronald, Judy, and twins, Arlene and Charlene who died at birth in 1948.

In the early years of their marriage Beulah was a homemaker, and was known throughout her life as very hard working. She worked at many places in her lifetime including: the Otley and Pella Public Schools where she was employed as a cook and janitor; A&W Restaurant; Hilltop Manor and Pella Corporation from 1974 to 1987.

Albert suffered a heart attack and died on December 5, 1968.

On February 12, 1971 she was united in marriage with Harry Netten. They were married nearly twenty years when he died on January 9, 1990.

As her health declined she became a resident of the Long Term Care Unit of the Pella Regional Health Center. Beulah was very independent and this transition to a new home was difficult for her until she embraced her life change and became very happy.

On January 7, 2009 she passed away there attaining the age of 85 years, 3 months and 21 days.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two children and their families: Ronald and Joy Dykstra of Bussey, Iowa; Judy and John Klein of Noblesville, Indiana.

Beulah was the last surviving member of her original family. Of her husband Alberts family she leaves her brother-in-law, Henry Dykstra of Monroe, Iowa.

Beulah was preceded in death by her twin daughters, Arlene and Charlene, her husbands, Albert Dykstra and Harry Netten, her parents, sisters, Leona Hoksbergen and Gladys Witzenburg, and her brother, Dale Hoksbergen.

Beulah had many interests, particularly sprint car racing, and attending races in Knoxville, Iowa. She especially enjoyed the Knoxville Nationals where she would sit with the same group of people annually, some would travel as far away as Canada. Her other interest was professional wrestling, one she was also proud to point out with her posters in her room. Beulah was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pella. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and looked forward to their visits.
