Vander Linden, Lester Daniel 1919-2007

Lester Daniel Vander Linden, son of Dan W. and Nettie Rouwenhorst Vander Linden, was born Jan. 17, 1919 near Leighton. He passed away at the Pella Hospice Comfort House on Saturday morning, May 26, 2007 at the age of 88.

On Oct. 11, 1940 Lester was united in marriage with Viola Ruth Dykstra at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. To this union three children were born: Edwin, Marilyn and Marcella. Currently Lester and Viola were living at Vriendschap Village in Pella.

Lester worked at various places including Kuyper Lumber Yard and, for 30 years, at the Pella Rolscreen Company from which he retired. After retiring he worked at several different jobs, one of which was his own photography business.

He was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Pella.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife of nearly 67 years, Viola; three children and their spouses: Edwin Lee and Jeanne (Dykstra)Vander Linden of Beavercreek, Ohio, Marilyn and Ron Rozenboom of Rose Hill, Marcella and Carl Vander Molen of Bradenton, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one brother: Harold Vander Linden of Strawberry Point; two sisters-in-law: Gertrude Dykstra of Pella, and Jeanette Dykstra of Prairie City; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Glen and Bernice Erickson of Mesa, Az.

Lester will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Burial took place at the Graceland Cemetery. The Garden Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
