Mrs. Isabelle Bussey Cole

Mrs. Isabelle Bussey Cole was born May 25, 1863, in Green county, Penna,. and died at 12:45 a.m. Monday, December 27, 1943, in the Mercy hospital at Oskaloosa after an extended illness. Mrs. Cole was the daughter of Jesse Bussey, the founder of the town of bussey, who moved his family from Pennsylvania to the present site of Bussey in 1866.

The deceased was married in 1880 to Dr. Daniel Lambert Cole, who practiced medicene in Bussey until 1894 when the family moved to oskaloosa where he continued his practice until his retirement in 1920. At that time the Dr. and Mrs. Cole moved to Washington state to be with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. James Muffley.

Dr. Cole died in 1925 and the rest of the family returned to the middle west in 1939. Mrs. Cole making her home in Oskaloosa until her death.

Mrs. Cole was a member of the first Presbyterian church in Oskaloosa, a member of Oskaloosa chapter NO 145. O.E.S. and of the past Matrons club of 146. Sha also belonged to Oskaloosa chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Cole was one of the ten charter members of Isadore Rebekah Lodge in Bussey (undoubtedly named for her and Theodore west, also a charter member). During her residence in Bussey she was extremely active in the Bussey M.P. church.

Mrs. Cole is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Nellie Cole Muffley.

Funeral services were held from the Wilcox-garland Chapel in Oskaloosa with burial in Greenlawn cemetery at Bussey.
